Portfolio Update June 2022

Hello everyone, I am back at it again with my monthly overview. I hope all of you are doing great. If you are a fellow investor the chances are quite high that your portfolio is not performing very good either. You are not alone! Mine is taking a huge dump over the last months. This is part of the investing life, though. I have actually checked historical numbers and my portfolio is at the same number it was exactly one year ago. I have worked a whole year without making a penny! Of course, I don’t need to look at it like that! That is enough whining from me. Let’s take a look at my portfolio update for June 2022!

Don’t forget that you can always find an up-to-date overview of all the ‘numbers’ in my portfolio on the My Portfolio page.

Portfolio overview

I am still saving up cash so no extra investments happened this month. Both investment categories (stocks and crypto) took quite a beating in the last couple of weeks. My ETFs went down in value by €1600 and are standing at €25.000 right now. Hopefully, I will be able to start adding to those positions again next month.

Although stabilizing a bit in the last couple of days, this was certainly not the best month for crypto either. The current environment worldwide is just not great for investments in general. My cryptocurrency positions lost around €10.000 in value over one month. I have also decided to ‘write off’ my FinxFlo investment that I talked about in previous posts. I added ‘Realised losses’ at the top of the sheet. I still have my tokens but they are basically worthless. The company itself is going through big changes and I think that there is very little chance for them to make a comeback. Call it my first real investing mistake if you will.

We’ve also started renovating the first apartment that we bought with the real estate company. Everything is still going according to plan over there. This eats up quite a bit of my time though but you have to put in the effort if you want to accomplish your goals! We have also already bought a second property which we will renovate as well once this one is finished.

Monthly Cash-flow

There are no changes in my cash flow since last month. You can still see an overview in the screenshot below. Right now I am still trying to save as much money as possible in cash.

Keep in mind that I have money coming in from a second (restaurant) job, as well as my side hustle. This is not mentioned in the screenshot below as it is not really predictable at this time.

Cash Flow

Portfolio Allocation

Portfolio allocation
  • Cash: Saved – €300
  • Stocks: Invested €0 – €1 598.10 depreciation (!)
  • Crypto: Invested €0 – €10 199.02 depreciation (!!)

As mentioned before, both investment categories went down by a lot. A couple of months ago my portfolio was standing well above €100.000 while at this point, I am struggling to hold €80.000. But I know I will get back up there eventually! We just need to keep on working, saving and investing!

This month I did not save as much as I wanted to. At the beginning of this year, I switched jobs. This means that my old employed paid me, at that time, for my vacation this year. This is now settled with my wage for June leaving me with only €800. Not a big deal, we’ll be back saving the higher amounts next month!

Overview

I now have back-to-back months where my portfolio went down by more than €10.000. This is not the best feeling but we knew from the start that this could happen. We’ve had months that were the other way around as well. I also have to remember that I am still in the green so it could be worse!
