Portfolio Update December 2020

Happy New Year! Again, what a crazy month. Both my stock portfolio and my cryptocurrency portfolio did well this month. Crypto has outperformed without a doubt. I am very excited about the crazy rollercoaster that 2021 will be. Let’s take a look at my portfolio update for December 2020.

Don’t forget that you can always find an up-to-date overview of all the ‘numbers’ in my portfolio on the My Portfolio page.

Portfolio overview

My stock portfolio is performing as it should. Slow and steady gains. I like to see this as a marathon. I don’t need to get rich quick. Just adding the €1000 every month and I should see a great return in the long term future. I am very happy with how this portfolio is performing.

Naturally, cryptocurrencies are a totally different story. Apparently, last month wasn’t crazy enough by itself. December was at least equally as good. We saw more than decent gains here again. Honestly, I still feel like we have a lot of room to grow. This is my own opinion though. I can not predict the future but I am still a Bitcoin buyer at this point!

Monthly Cash-flow

My monthly cash-flow is still the same this month. Even though December is always an expensive month because of several birthdays and Christmas gifts as well as insurance bills, I still managed to save a bit more than planned. €2000 instead of €1800. This is largely because of the end of year bonus.

Portfolio Allocation

Portfolio allocation
  • Cash: Saved €900
  • Stocks: Invested €1000 – €441.80 appreciation
  • Crypto: Invested €100 – €5079.42 appreciation (!!)

A couple of months ago I thought reaching €50.000 net worth in 2020 would be very difficult. The crypto-gods have decided otherwise. I just shattered the €50k milestone which is just ridiculous. At this point, I should reach €100.000 by the end of 2022. This foresight does not take market fluctuations into account. This goal could be reached sooner or later. This being said, I am very excited about that moment.

My judgment could be flawed but I do feel that €50-60k is still not ‘a lot’ of money. I do think differently about €100.000. What are your thoughts?

I have more value in cryptocurrencies than I do have in stocks as of this moment. This is something I am not a big fan of but It is just outperforming my other assets. I guess this is a ‘good’ problem to have though.

Last month my portfolio appreciated by around €5000. I didn’t think this month could possibly be better. I guess that I really have no idea what markets can do. This month was even better! Investing really pays off, nothing is better than letting your money work for you!

Overview

I really hope your month was as good as mine was! This was my portfolio update for December of 2020. I am very excited about what 2021 has in store for us. I wish you all a very happy and healthy new year! If you have any further questions about my portfolio or about investing in general, please don’t hesitate to ask!

What should I put in the ‘invested’ column when I have 0€ invested in bitcoin? I put in €1, but then I get like 1 million percent change 😄

Are you never “afraid” having so much money (and accumulating) in only 2 /3 ETFs?

I am not sure. The ETF as such brings some diversification (a lot of companies are included in the ETF), but I was more thinking in the direction of: what if something happens with the ETF? If it stops or don’t know what can happen 🙂 IWDA and EMIM are the best for Belgians, but maybe I would diversify my portfolio with more ETFs? Maybe that is just
irrational 🙂
